2009 NBA PLAYOFFS: CONFERENCE FINALS PREDICTIONS

By Thierry Dominique

Hello everyone,

I’m back after a three-month hiatus.  I know I know that I’m couple of weeks late but I have to write about this year’s NBA playoffs.  So far, I can tell you that the Cleveland Cavaliers are clearly the team to beat in these playoffs, taking care of  Detroit and Atlanta decisively with a sweep in each series.  This is why I pick them to beat Orlando in 5 games.  The Magic have taken advantage of a depleted Boston Celtics team missing Kevin Garnett’s competitive fire dearly in the East semis but don’t expect them to duplicate this feat against Lebron and his gang in the Eastern conference finals.

As for the West, the Lakers have not proved that they are the best in the conference, especially against Houston without Yao Ming beating them in seven games.  I believe that Kobe and co. will have more problems against the Denver Nuggets thanks to the leadership of Chauncey Billups; the work at the low-post of Nêne and Kenyon Martin; the play of Carmelo Anthony and the deep bench.  No doubt the presence of  Andrew Bynum in low-post will be crucial for the Lakers to win the series as we saw in game 7 against Houston because he makes the job easier for Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom.  Nevertheless, I pick Denver to win the series in seven brutal games.

There you have it.  Cleveland and Denver in the NBA Finals.  Sorry people, I don’t believe the hype .
